Our topic this month for our Trends and Changes in ICT Series. is “Adaptive Web” <BR>
TOPIC: “aWEB: A Framework for the Design, Creation and Deployment of Adaptive Websites”
Speakers:
Dr. Ali Ghorbani, Dean of UNB Faculty of Computer Science, Fredericton
Event Overview
aWeb is a framework that enables web designers:
-
Creation of websites in a purposely-designed environment allowing easy design, simulation, deployment & maintenance of the site.
-
Application's business logic embedding through a high level scheme allowing direct application-domain expert input & maintenance.
-
Adaptation rules (presentation, navigation paths, content) & adaptation triggers (session variables, user & external context profiles) specification & implementation.
-
Distributed application deployment (application components residing on separate servers).
Potential Applications in Industry
aWeb’s suite of tools implements the whole process of adaptive websites creation & deployment.
Its applications range from web development platforms, to e-government, e-commerce, e-learning portals.
aWeb complements any web platform that provides large amounts of content requiring frequent updates & catering to a diversified audience (user profiles, contexts: access devices, network limitations) and delivers the exact amount of content in the adequate form to a specific user in the most efficient website structure.
aWeb-created websites deliver user-customized sites based on a single site description (enhanced productivity & maintenability).
Status of the Business Idea
Beta release, Patent pending.
Desired Cooperation with Industry in Connection with this Project
Licensing, develop the idea ready for market, preferably with a company in the following industry: Web-development, fee for service.
